Black and White Child Portrait. Shot with 14-24 lens processed in Lightroom

I took this shot in front of the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. The light in the entrance way to the gallery is really amazing. There is a huge glass wall with water flowing over it that helps diffuse light coming from the rear, and then a huge curved entrance arch that helps shape the light from the front. It seems to do great things for eyes when taking portrait shots. This image was processed in black and white using Lightroom, I used the brush tool to help brighten the face slightly. Gradient filters where used on the background to darken the edges. CLICK HERE to learn more about Adobe Lightroom. Black & White Queenstown Landscape. Shot with a 14-24 Nikon lens, Lightroom black and white conversion

Here is a black and white version of the previous Queenstown landscape shot. This was taken in the same location but I used the 14-24 Nikon lens to make the scene a little more dramatic, I think the clouds really help this image. I then used Lightroom for the black and white conversion. I tinted the desaturated image by adding a touch of yellow to the highlights, and darkened the edges with gradient filters. CLICK HERE to learn more about Adobe Lightroom. Queenstown Landscape Processed in Lightroom, shot on 14-24 Nikon lens

This was my first chance to try out the 14-24mm f2.8 Nikon lens on a landscape. This lens does amazing things with clouds and reflections. The Lightroom work in this image consisted of a few different treatments, the main one was to increase both the vibrancy and saturation across the whole image, this enhanced the blues nicely, but over saturated the orange colors in the trees. To compensate for this I did some selective desaturation with the orange and yellow tones which fixed this problem. I also applied the brush tool to the tree horizon and added small amount of extra exposure to bring out the details. To finish off the image I sharpened the tree areas slightly and then brushed some subtle yellow light into the cloud areas. This part of New Zealand is amazing at this time of the year, if you are in the area Queenstown should be on your list of stop overs. CLICK HERE to learn more about Adobe Lightroom.
